A missionary kid's BTCP training has been helpful in numerous nations and fields of service.
Note- for safety reasons, Chris asked us to not use his full name.
Chris loved growing up in Africa as a "missionary kid", and always desired to return to Africa after moving to the USA.
Lacking the funds to attend a formal Bible College, Chris entered the "Young Guns" discipleship program at in Denton, Texas which prepared him to return to Kenya.
Chris joined a BTCP class in Nairobi, spending time in the BTCP manuals with 14 other students, all African pastors and church leaders. During this time, Chris lived with a Ugandan family in a poverty stricken area and formed a Bible club for the kids living there.
In this formative year, Chris learned more about Christ and more about his fellow students, who hailed from many different denominations.
Following his graduation, Chris taught trained five BTCP students in Mombasa and found that he learned even more than he had as a student!
The Lord spread his training ministry from Kenya to Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Sudan and even as far as Russia.
The need for trained pastors has been overwhelming and it is often difficult to accommodate all of the requests for training that come in because many denominations and ministries have grown, but without much spiritual depth.
BTCP has had a huge impact on Chris, helping him grow in his understanding of God and how to live for him. He has seen many other people impacted by their ministry too, including Pastor Timothy, who works in the Kibera slums of Nairobi, ministering to underprivileged children and teaching BTCP classes.
Beyond his commitment to training pastors, Chris and his family have lead outreach on predominantly Islamic islands in the Indian Ocean, seeking to plant churches.
